Winning in gambling is a complicated thing… You could keep on losing for days on end, and one day you win BIG, only to realize that you just got SOME of the money you’ve put in, back. So when I say win, I mean win overall, and the only way for you to do that is to be consistent. Several small wins with a few small losses are better than one or two “big” wins in a lifetime of losses. Your goal is to stick to a strategy that will allow you to play online casino blackjack and win.

I’m sure most of you reading this are very knowledgeable in the game of blackjack, but just to be sure, let’s start with the basics. Blackjack is simple enough and even simpler when played through an online casino; every player play against the dealer and any hand that beats the hand of the dealer win.

The objective of the game is to beat the dealer’s hand. The value of your hand should not exceed 21. If your hand is over 21 then it is considered “Bust,” and you lose. If your hand is lower than the dealer’s, you can either hit or accept the loss. If your hand is equal to the dealer’s hand, you get the money you wagered back. If the dealer’s hand is 21, also known as blackjack unless your hand is also 21, you lose.

Card Values

  • Ace = 11 or 1 Face Cards = 10
  • Number Cards = Value

The game is rather intuitive, and just knowing the value of each card is enough.

Special Bets

After your first two cards are dealt with, depending on the situation, you may be able to make special bets.

Doubling Down

This is when your hand is dealt with, and you are confident in getting the next card, you can match the amount you already gambled. You are then given only one card, and whatever your hand value, then, will be the final value you will be matching against the dealer’s hand. If you win, your winnings will be equal to double the amount you put in.

You can only split pairs (e.g., 10/10, 8/8, etc.), splitting allow you to have two hands, but you will have to match the amount you put in the original hand. Each hand will go against the dealers on its own. You may double down on each hand or even split your hand again, given that it is also a pair.

This is when the dealer’s first open card is an ace; you may put this special bet in as a way to get your money back if the dealer has a Blackjack.

When playing online casino blackjack, I highly recommend that you DO NOT count cards, as this is only effective when you can see the shoe. Counting cards lose effectively as random number generators, and unique algorithms for blackjack are made to combat the advantages that card counting gives.

When to Double Down

You double down when you’re feeling lucky. But it’s best when your hand’s value is 10 or 11.

When to Best Split

When you have a pair of aces or eights, one should always split.

Always get insurance, it’s too risky not to.
